Attorney Kerstin Zimmermann is dedicated to defending her clients and obtaining the best possible result for them. She has worked at a public defender’s office since her second year in law school. During her time at the public defender’s office, she has represented hundreds of clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies. She has experience at all stages of the process, including trial, preliminary examination, competency hearings, as well as writing and arguing motions.
Having interned at a prosecutor’s office in addition to working at a public defender’s office, she knows both sides of the system and is able to use this knowledge to her clients’ advantage. She knows when the state attorney has a weak case and is able to use the prosecution’s weaknesses in developing a successful defense strategy for her clients. She is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
She graduated summa cum laude from the Michigan State University College of Law and represented the law school for two years in the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court competition in Chicago. While in law school, she received several awards, including a full-tuition merit scholarship. She also received the highest grade in her class in Criminal Trial Advocacy I as well as in Client Counseling and Interviewing. During her last year and a half in law school, Attorney Zimmermann worked as a LexisNexis associate and is intimately familiar with legal research.
Before going to law school, she worked as a journalist for several years after receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Ohio State University. While working as a journalist she gained invaluable writing experience, which gives her an advantage when it comes to writing motions on behalf of her clients. In addition to working as a journalist in the United States, she has worked for several years in Germany and speaks fluent German.
Attorney Zimmermann has the necessary knowledge and experience to help you with your criminal charges and is dedicated to using her skills to the advantage of her clients.
