Florida Church Worker Charged with Sex Crime

August 14, 2012

A 40-year-old Florida man with an alleged foot fetish faces charges for allegedly trying to “worship the sneakers” of a four-year-old. According to a report in The New York Daily News, the St. Petersburg church worker had placed 17 Craigslist ads over the past three years in an attempt to find women’s feet to smell. Officials say he posed as a woman while attempting to find a girl to worship while she wore sneakers. A woman who he contacted notified the authorities.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office began a sting operation that resulted in the man allegedly admitting that he wanted to have sex with a four-year-old girl. He was arrested for trying to entice a minor into a sex act.

Some forms of child molestation crime in Florida is defined under the Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act: “Any notice, statement, or advertisement of any minor's name, telephone number, place of residence, physical characteristics, or other descriptive or identifying information for purposes of facilitating, encouraging, offering, or soliciting sexual conduct of or with any minor, or the visual depiction of such conduct, commits a felony of the third degree.” Under the same statute: “The fact that an undercover operative or law enforcement officer was involved in the detection and investigation of an offense under this section shall not constitute a defense.”
