Orlando, FL – Car Theft Case – Car Sale Gone Wrong Leads to Shooting

Orlando, FL (November 21, 2018) – A car sale gone wrong led to a shooting involving the police Wednesday afternoon. A couple reportedly met with a potential buyer at a gas station in Southern Orlando to sell their car. After the couple arrived at the location, a Hispanic male jumped into the driver’s seat of the car and took off. The vehicle was equipped with GPS, allowing officers and the couple to follow the stolen vehicle to a shopping plaza in the 9900 block of Universal Boulevard.

When police arrived at the scene, they tried to box the vehicle in at the shopping plaza, causing the Hispanic male to back into the business with the stolen vehicle then drive toward the officer’s car.  The Officer shot at the vehicle, causing the driver to ram the police cruiser and crash into an elderly couple nearby. The driver of the stolen vehicle eventually crashed near Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona. Officers apprehended the driver and had him transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment to a gunshot wound.
