Sumter County, FL – Woman Receives Third-Degree Felony for Third DUI

Sumter County, FL (November 12, 2018) – This past week, a woman received a third-degree felony due to receiving her third DUI over the past few years. This happened after police located her with wine coolers in her golf cart.

Police found 73-year-old Marcia Nell Vandersnick slumped over the wheel of her golf cart around 4:30 p.m. stopped on the side of the path for golf carts. The incident took place along the Buena Vista Boulevard.

Police say that, when they located her, there was an open wine cooler between her legs and a second empty wine cooler bottle was near the gas pedal. Vandersnick was unable to get through the FSTs without falling over and her breath sample registered at .217.

When police investigated further, they found that Vandersnick had two prior DUI convictions in 2014. Her third charge was elevated to a third-degree felony. She was released from prison this week after posting a bond.
