Clearwater, FL (May 5, 2019) – A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges related to a four-day crime spree in Clearwater. Shane Jensen was arrested by Clearwater police on Monday, April 29th in connection with the events.
Jensen, who worked for the City of Clearwater as a lifeguard, is accused of going to a Home Depot on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and engaging in a carjacking. A witness says that Jensen threatened a 17-year-old inside a 2007 Dodge Ram. Jensen allegedly brandished a hammer before taking possession of the truck and driving away. Two days prior, he smashed the windows of his supervisor’s car in a parking lot.
The stolen truck was located in Hillsborough County with Jensen behind the wheel. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol reported that Jensen was acting erratically and was incoherent upon being arrested. As police attempted to arrest him, however, he climbed into their patrol car and tried to drive away. During the process, he also tried to run over three officers at the scene. Following a pursuit, Jensen was finally stopped in Osceola County. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Jensen has been officially charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement offer and possession of marijuana.
