Attorney Derek Maines is a native Floridian and grew up in Ocala, Florida. After graduating from Belleview High School, Derek received an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Pensacola State College. He then attended Florida State University and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree. From there, Derek went on to earn his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law where his concentration of study was criminal law and sports law. During law school and shortly thereafter, Derek worked an internship with the Public Defender's Office before working for the non-profit Jacksonville Legal Aid. Derek then went into private practice focusing on criminal defense and personal injury representation.
Attorney Maines has experience in every phase of litigation and has represented individuals charged with misdemeanors, felonies, probation violations and juvenile cases as well. Derek understands the diligence it takes to be a successful attorney as well as the importance of a strong attorney-client relationship that includes an open line of communication.
