
Summer G. Harris
Attorney Summer G. Harris is from Gainesville, Florida and a graduate of Gainesville High
School. She then matriculated through Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in
Tallahassee, Florida and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Attorney Harris
received her Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee,
Florida and during her tenure there, she had the opportunity to study abroad at Oxford University
in England. She was sworn into the Florida Bar in October of 2002.
Attorney Harris has worked as an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State
Attorney’s Office-Child Support Enforcement Division, an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps
Attorney, a Staff Attorney for Three Rivers Legal Services, Inc. and in private practice. She and
her former law partner formed the first African-American woman jointly owned law firm in
Gainesville, Florida. She has also taught business, criminal, and paralegal courses for Keiser
University and Administrative Law for Florida Coastal School of Law.
Attorney Harris is an avid community volunteer and serves as a member of several boards and
several local civic organizations. She has also served two terms as a Commissioner for the
Alachua County Local Planning Agency/Planning Commission.
