FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – May 13, 2020 - According to an online news report published on Local10.com, law enforcement identified the female driver who fled the police and led police on a high-speed police chase from Broward County to Miami-Dade. Police also believe they understand why the woman fled the police. The woman was wearing an ankle monitor to track her whereabouts due to a previous criminal offense, and as she is awaiting her criminal trial in that case. Law enforcement also stated, in the news report, that the woman had her 9-year-old boy in the back seat of her car during the police chase.

The 29-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman was wanted by police for allegedly committing a series of robberies. The last robbery the woman allegedly committed involved a 68-year-old victim. The suspect allegedly robbed the senior citizen of her purse at the Citibank located on Aventura Boulevard. The victim stated that she parked in a handicapped spot at Citibank at approximately 1:50 p.m. The victim stated that the suspect was in a black Nissan car and the suspect was backed into a parking space that was right next to the victim´s handicapped parking spot. The victim stated that as she opened her car door to walk into the bank, the suspect pushed the victim back into her car, grabbed the victim´s purse off of the passenger-side seat, and then sped off with the victim´s purse. Fortunately, a security guard at Citibank was nearby and was able to witness the suspect fleeing the scene, and he wrote down the suspect´s car tag.

A “be on the lookout” alert was sent out to Aventura police. The alert included a description of the suspect´s car, her license plate number, and a description of the suspect. Hollywood police were able to spot the suspect´s black Nissan but after the suspect perpetrated numerous other crimes. As the Hollywood police attempted to pull over the suspect, the suspect sped away to elude officers. One of the pursuing police officers used a tactical maneuver in order to stop the suspect´s car during the pursuit. The suspect´s black Nissan sedan came to a stop when it crashed on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the accident. Police found the suspect´s 9-year-old son in the back seat, and he was taken from the suspect´s car.

The suspect was found wearing a GPS ankle monitor that police issued her because the suspect was waiting for a hearing in another criminal charge. Police were able to use the ankle bracelet to determine if the suspect was at the Citibank during the time of the strong-armed robbery. The suspect has been charged with numerous criminal offenses, including neglect of a child without bodily harm, battery on a person 65 years or older, robbery by sudden snatching without a firearm or weapon.

The suspect was booked and awaits her hearing while at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida. She is also being held without bond.
