JACKSONVILLE, FL - A news report on kltv.com states that a Jacksonville police officer was driving in the 3000 block of North Jackson Street when a driver waved the police officer down.  The panicked motorist informed the Jacksonville police officer that a pedestrian had been hit by a hit-and-run motor vehicle. The Jacksonville police officer found the injured person lying in the roadway and the Jacksonville police officer summoned help from the Jacksonville Fire Department. The severely injured man was declared dead at the pedestrian accident scene.

Eyewitnesses described the vehicle as a dark blue or black newer model Dodge Charger that was traveling southbound along North Jackson Street when the car hit the pedestrian who was trying to cross North Jackson Street.  The Charger driver stopped the car for a moment and then sped off northbound along Jackson Street.  The Dodge Charger received serious damage to the front of the motor vehicle and is missing a side mirror.

The victim was identified as a 64-year-old man.  The fatal pedestrian accident investigation continues.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Police Department concerning the Dodge Charger or other information about the aforementioned incident.
