ST PETERSBURG, FL (PINELLAS COUNTY) - According to an arrest report on tampabay.com, a Pinellas County charter school dean and his wife have been arrested for supplying alcohol and marijuana to an underage babysitter. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the dean was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect. The dean's wife was also arrested and charged with two counts child neglect charges. Pinellas County Sherriff's Office deputies stated that the man and his wife also provided their teen babysitter's underage friends with marijuana and alcohol for two years, according to the report.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrest report, the couple would leave their two young children under the care of the teen babysitter, who would get intoxicated on the couple's alcohol and marijuana. The couple would then go out to bars and drink alcohol. The report also states that the couple would come home and drink more alcohol and smoke marijuana with the babysitter, and occasionally with her underage friends.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrest report states that the wife text messaged her babysitter, "Get drunk! Pass the (f--k) out!" back in October. In another text message, the wife stated, "If you want to smoke (husband's name omitted), has weed there."

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies did not disclose how the charges were discovered or when the criminal investigation began. The dean works at a charter school, which means the school is privately run but receives public funds. The charter school is contracted with the Pinellas County School Board. However, the school operates independently and selects its own governing board.

A staff member from the charter school stated that school officials would not provide any comment about the arrest. The Pinellas County School District stated that the charter school was communicating with the parents about the situation and that they would be checking with the charter school to make sure the school reports the dean's arrest to the Florida Department of Education for disciplinary action.

The babysitter's identity was not provided by Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies, who asserted that the alcohol and marijuana began when she was 15-year-old. At that time, the couple's twin children were five years-of-age. The couple left the babysitter at their house with access to marijuana and alcohol between 30 to 40 times. The teen babysitter said that she would get so intoxicated that she would slur her speech and have difficulty seeing. She admitted that she wouldn't have been able to take care of the kids in an emergency.

The report states that the couple allowed the underage babysitter to drink whiskey, vodka, and other alcoholic drinks. The teen told Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies that the couple gave her a glass of whiskey prior to leaving the house. The couple also permitted the teen's friends to drink and drive, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The husband was booked into the Pinellas County jail and was released after he posted a $10,000 bail.
