TALLAHASSEE, FL – October 19, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on Tallahassee.com, the Tallahassee police announced that the department made an arrest in the Joe Louis Street murder case. Within 48 hours of a fatal shooting of a man, the suspect in that incident was identified, arrested, and charged in the crime. The shooting occurred in a Joe Louis Street apartment complex parking lot, according to Tallahassee police.

The 21-year-old suspect was arrested by police and charged with shooting into a vehicle, and premeditated murder, according to justice court records. The suspect, who turned himself into police, is being held at the Leon County Detention Facility without bail.

The Tallahassee Police Department were contacted about a suspected shooting at the Springfield Apartments. Tallahassee Police officers discovered a male dead and lying on the ground due to receiving several gunshots to the chest. The responding paramedics attempted to revive the victim, but the victim was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene of the shooting.

According to two witnesses, one witness who was with the suspect and the other witness who was with the shooter stated to law enforcement investigators that they witnessed the suspect aim and shoot the victim following an argument.

One of the eyewitnesses told her sister and the witness who was with the victim that they visited the apartments to come and pick up her children at the apartment complex to spend time at the witness’ home in Fort Braden.

After stepping into his Dodge Avenger, the witness states that the victim began to follow the suspect and the suspect’s girlfriend in their black Ford car. The suspect and his girlfriend parked their Dodge Avenger, and the victim parked his car close by. The shooting witness asserted that the suspect wanted to “harm” the victim, according to the arrest report. The witness stated that she asked the victim to allow her and her kids leave the car. Then the victim drove his car back to the woman’s apartment and then he dropped the woman and her kids off. Then her sister exited the car, walked toward the shooter’s Ford and she began knocking on the driver’s side door window in order to start a fight with the shooter’s girlfriend.

One witness stated that the suspect pulled out and aimed a purple and black handgun at the victim’s face and the suspect shot the man at “point-blank range.” The witness ran away and she claims that she heard additional shots fired.

The Tallahassee police stated that they are continuing their investigation of the fatal shooting at the Springfield Apartments located on Joe Louis Street. Eyewitnesses stated that a man was shot dead in a parking lot.

At the suspect’s first court appearance, the Leon County Judge Jason Jones ordered the suspect to be held without a bail bond. Then the prosecutors in the case asked the judge to order that the suspect have no contact with any witnesses in the event that the suspect’s bond be set in the future.
