JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - A news report on News4Jax.com reports that have been published on news4jax.com states that two men have been arrested and criminally charged after caught up in an online sex sting operation. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office administered the online sex sting operation, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office rendered assistance. 

According to the online sex sting operation investigators, a 26-year-old man from St. Marys and a 56-year-old man from Jacksonville face serious criminal charges of traveling to meet a child for sex and soliciting a child for sex. Both crimes are felonies in the state of Florida. 

According to the arrest reports, an undercover Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective launched an online operation that targeting individuals suspected of utilizing the internet to meet with minor children. Law enforcement officers stated that a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective posed as a 14-year-old girl and entered a dating website's chat room where the detective contacted one of the suspects.

Jacksonville Police stated that the conversation between the suspect and the undercover Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective went from the chat room to text messages. The suspect made sexually explicit remarks in the text messages even after being told he was speaking with a 14-year-old girl. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office stated that the suspect drove to a previously arranged place to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl. The suspect arrived to discover several law enforcement officers waiting for him.

As the undercover Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective chatted with the suspect, another man contacted the undercover officer through their online profile. The undercover detective was posing as a 14-year-old boy on a different dating app. According to the second suspect's arrest report, the suspect also made explicit remarks. He was also arrested when the man showed up at the prearranged place he expected to meet a child for sex. 

The two men were released from jail after posting bond.
