HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA - A news article posted on wfla.com reports that Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies announced the arrest of a professional criminal after he was caught burglarizing the home of an elderly woman. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Deputies state that a 40-year-old man, who a local moving company employed, unlocked the elderly woman's windows before leaving her home.

The next day, at around 4 AM., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office stated that the suspect returned to the woman's home, entered through the unlocked window, and then locked the elderly woman in a bathroom. He took thousands of dollars worth of the woman's jewelry. After the suspect left her home, the victim called the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies stated that the suspect was later found at a LongHorn Steakhouse in Brandon last Monday, where the suspect was eating dinner. He was taken into custody without incident.

A media release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported that detectives discovered more stolen property from a number of car burglaries the suspect committed over the weekend in the New Tampa area.

Sheriff Chad Chronister stated that the defendant is a career criminal who did not learn from his past mistakes and continues to make terrible decisions. He faces six counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, one count of grand theft third-degree ($750-$5,000), one count of robbery home invasion of more than $300, one count of false imprisonment, one count of failure of a career offender to register or provide information, one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault or battery, and one count of battery (victim over 65). 

The defendant had been recently released from the Florida Department of Corrections and was classified as a "Career Criminal" according to the Florida Career Offender Registration (COAST) Act.
