KEY WEST, FL - April 23, 2020, According to an online news report published on the website MiamiHerald.com, three individuals were arrested in a domestic-related altercation between a man, his girlfriend and the boyfriend of the woman´s sister in Key West, Florida. The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. on April 18, 2020, when Key West police responded to a call at the George Allen public housing apartments.

The article goes on to report that a Key West man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, and the man was stabbed in his neck by the boyfriend of his girlfriend´s sister. Key West police officers arrested three of the individuals who were involved in an altercation. The Key West Police department stated that the couple was arrested for the alleged assault with one of the assailants stabbing the man in the face, and the male victim was arrested for the alleged act of domestic violence the next day.

The 24-year-old boyfriend, who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, was arrested and charged, on April 19, 2020, for misdemeanor battery and felony grand theft. Key West Police stated that the suspect stole his girlfriend´s cellphone and threw her into a wall during a domestic dispute.

The 19-year-old sister of the female who was allegedly thrown into a wall told Key West police officers that she and her 20-year-old boyfriend visited her sister´s boyfriend to talk to him about the alleged assault on her sister. According to the online news report and the Key West police´s arrest report, the couple confronted her sister´s boyfriend about the assault, and the two were armed with knives during the confrontation. The 19-year-old sister told the investigating Key West police officers that the blade of her knife was always closed, and no blade was out. The woman alleges that the boyfriend of her sister attacked her boyfriend first and that her boyfriend returned a punch with the hand that he held a camouflage-style knife. Her boyfriend stated that he saw the 24-year-old boyfriend, later arrested for misdemeanor battery on his girlfriend, was bleeding from his neck. According to police, the two made incriminating statements. The two individuals told Key West officers that they thought the 24-year-old suspect had a gun and that he had threatened to kill them. The arrest record reports that Key West police did not state they recovered a firearm at the scene of the attack.

The treating physician who examined the victim´s neck injuries told the Key West police officers that the wound to the victim´s neck could have been fatal due to the proximity to the victim´s jugular vein.

The 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. The man is being held on a $75,000 bail bond and is at the Stock Island Detention Center. The 19-year-old sister was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill. She was released without bond.
