Lakeland, FL (October 10, 2019) – An attorney who has worked for the City of Lakeland for over 30 years was arrested during a prostitution sex sting operation launched by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The Lakeland city attorney was arrested and charged with a public solicitation offense by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. A violation of the Hillsborough County’s public solicitation ordinance is a misdemeanor charge.
The undercover prostitution sting is part of a larger operation to combat human sex trafficking in the local community. The operation involved posting fake advertisements, offering sexual services for money. Those who responded to the advertisements were told to meet the sex worker at a specified location in Brandon, Florida where police made the arrests. The undercover prostitution sting lead to the arrest of seven individuals, including the longtime city attorney.
