Fort Lauderdale, FL (June 24, 2019) – Police have arrested 34-year-old Richard Gordon after he admitted that he molested a minor that he was caring for in Fort Lauderdale this past week.
Gordon allegedly assaulted the child who is under 12 years old. The victim had been sitting on the couch playing video games at the time and Gordon was their caretaker. The assault happened after Gordon noticed that the victim was not wearing any underwear.
Gordon moved the child’s shorts aside, where he then started touching the child’s private parts. The molestation lasted seconds and the suspect then apologized to the victim.
The victim’s mother got to the house and noticed that her child was not acting the same. The victim then told her mother what happened and they quickly left.
Gordon allegedly confessed to the crime in a phone call with the victim’s mother. Gordon then waited for authorities to come and arrest him. He admitted to police that he regretted the crime when police interviewed him.
Gordon was since charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child.
