Miami-Dade, FL (November 13, 2018) – Police say that a Miami police sergeant was arrested yesterday morning, November 12, after she struck her boyfriend in the face with a shoe when they were involved in an argument. He had been driving at the time of the incident.

The incident happened last night around 11:30 p.m. when the couple became involved in an argument, which continued to escalate. At that time, 37-year-old Yaosca Vanegas took off one of her shoes and started striking the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. After doing so, she struck her boyfriend in the face, which caused his nose to bleed.

The boyfriend struck Vanegas in self-defense, pulled over the vehicle on 34th Street, and called the police. Vanegas drove back home, which is where officers found her. She admitted to arguing with her boyfriend but claimed that she didn’t hit him. However, the victim had injuries to prove the claim.

Vanegas was arrested on a battery charge.
