Broward County, FL (November 15, 2018) – The Parkland shooting suspect, Nikolas Cruz, has been arrested for new charges such as battery and assault after a prison incident. Police say that the new charges were pressed after he attacked a Broward County deputy.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening, November 13 at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale. The guard told Cruz not to drag his sandals around, which prompted Cruz to give him the middle finger. The deputy started to stand up and Cruz rushed over to him and punched him in the face.

Cruz was able to shove the deputy to the ground and punch him multiple times in the head. The deputy tried to stop him, which is when Cruz grabbed his stun gun. The guard was able to get control of him and take the stun gun.

Now, Cruz is facing three new counts of aggravated assault on an officer and battery on an officer using an electric weapon.
