Daytona Beach, FL (June 23, 2019) - Police in Daytona Beach have made an arrest in connection with a bar fight that occurred earlier this year.  The incident in question took place in January at the Coyote Ugly Bar.

According to reports, 22-year-old Derek Tibado was at the bar when he was punched by a man, leaving him with serious injuries.  Tibado was knocked unconscious and was left nearly blind as a result of the attack.  He fell and struck his head on the concrete following the punch.

Surveillance video captured the incident.  Police released the video in March and by April received a tip leading them to believe that 26-year-old Daniel Duany of Daytona Beach was the suspect. Officers arrested Duany on Friday, June 21st.  He was placed in the Volusia County Jail following his arrest and has been charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm/disability.

Police are still working to establish a motive in the case.  It does not appear that the two men knew each other when the incident took place.
