Daytona Beach, FL (July 5, 2019) – Volusia County deputies arrested a grandmother on domestic violence charges after she slapped her daughter outside a Deltona church.

The incident started when the grandmother’s daughter phoned 911. Allegedly, the 70-year-old woman and the daughter became involved in an argument involving her grandchildren that escalated until the mother was slapped in the face by her own mom.

The grandmother admitted to the act. Even though the woman did not want to press charges, the police had no choice but to arrest her and take her to the Volusia County Jail on domestic violence charges.

Deputies told the woman that state law kept them from taking her in. The woman has since been released from jail.
