uber kidnap banner According to the Miami Herald: A college student by the name of Brooke Adkins, 19-years-old, was kidnapped by her Uber driver early Wednesday morning. According to the report, Brooke Adkins thought she was safe with her female Uber driver. This turned out to be a false sense of security. She was reported as tweeting:

"Tonight I realized that being kidnapped from an Uber driver is 100% real. I'm so thankful that I got out okay but jumping out of a moving car window and running for help has to be the scariest thing I've ever gone thru. I want girls to realize this happens & to be safe, always." - Brooke Adkins

The Leon County Sheriff's Office has found the one responsible, arrested, and charged the Uber driver (one Destiny Racquel Green, 31) with 2 counts of kidnapping, one count of false imprisonment with the intent to commit or facilitate a felony. She is currently being held with no bail.

Uber has also responded to this case by reminding everyone that uses their services to always use the "share status" button whenever they take a ride in an Uber. When you use the "share status" button and feature, you provide everyone that follows you with information like the driver's name, photo, license plate, and location.
