Two men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping for the deaths of two teenage boys, ages 18 and 16, whose bodies were found, engulfed in flames, along Central Florida's Cady Way Trail, according to Jacksonville.com. The suspects have been denied bond.
The two teens had met the suspects in April with the purpose of selling two stolen handguns to them. Instead of proceeding with the transaction, however, the two suspects allegedly robbed them and then shot them to death, after which their bodies were set on fire. The teens, who were good friends and attended school together, are believed to have stolen the guns from their Winter Park neighborhood. The deaths of the teens were a shock to the Winter Park community.
The suspects have long criminal records between them with offenses including theft, battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and attempted murder. Generally, multiple prior convictions usually increase the severity of penalties; however, should the suspects of this case be convicted of first-degree murder for the teens' deaths, they will face the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole, regardless of any prior convictions.
